busy busy

Life is busy but good! Kyla was the start student this week, she has been waiting all year! She showed her poster and got to bring in a toy to show, and be the line leader. We sold our Durango on Tuesday night. And Wednesday we bought a 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan Sport. We really love it!! I have always been anti minivan. Someday I want to get a crossover. But for now, we are loving the van.

prez weekend

Maelie has been doing a report at school on woolly monkeys, she made this home project all by herself and on Friday she is giving an oral report!

Yesterday was a great day off! We went to a movie, tool Chili's to a park, and then the kids had fun with shaving cream!!! Maelie jumped right in. Kyla almost cried at the thought of getting her fingers messy but she was soon way into it. Jaxon never really got convinced that this was fun.

Kyla playing dressup and the kids enjoying their new stuffed animals our neighbor gave them.

Vday weekend

Today Maelie had crazy hair day so I did an 80's do! :) On Monday morning we had pink heart pancakes with pink whipped cream and strawberries!

Saturday I bought Jaxon some potty training bribery. He went Saturday night and chose the WalMart semi truck, he went Sunday morning and got to choose a car. I was pretty excited. And then he had 2 accidents and now he wants nothing to do with it. I don't know if we should take a break and just wait for him to ask for another car or put away all his other cars so he really wants a car!

Jonas' mom sent us some old flannel board stories and the kids love them!
Friday night we went on our Vday date. We went hiking at South Mountain and then we went to Cheesecake Factory. It was awesome!

supermom

Yesterday was a really bad day. I was so overwhelmed and feeling really down. I kinda lost it as we were driving home from dance and was crying. Kyla asked me why I was crying and I just said, "I'm not feeling like a very good Mom. I wish I could be a supermom." And Kyla said, "Tomorrow you will be a supermom." She made me laugh.

life and more life

Maelie with her new book from book orders and Kyla with her cowboy hat she made at preschool last week. She doesn't like cowgirls, only cowboys. :)

Life has been pretty same ol' same ol'... but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I just realized I hadn't blogged in over a week and these were the only 2 pix on my camera. We have been doing good. Maelie is doing great in school. She is still going strong with piano lessons, she's almost done with the primer level book, and will be moving on to level 1 soon. Since her dance class dissolved, we moved to a different dance class. Both girls are together now since Kyla is 5. They get a 1/2 hour of each jazz, tap, and gym. They had a lot of fun at their first time last week. Maelie has also started Spanish club at school and is having fun with that. Kyla is also doing really well in preschool. Sometimes she complains about it being long (which makes me worry about all day kindergarten) but she always comes home happy. I had an appt for her today in Scottsdale at the developmental pediatrician's office and she also met with a child psychologist. She did a cognitive evaluation with her and it turns out Kyla is a little smarty pants. This makes the dev. ped. think that she has Asperger's instead off PDD-NOS. Before she turns 6, she will do an in-depth autism evaluation and find out for sure where she is at. But for now, she is keeping her at the at risk for autism diagnosis so that she can keep all of her services. Anyway, Jaxon has also been doing well. He has been sick with a cough but seems to be getting a little better. He had an OT evaluation recently and seem to have the same sensory issues as Kyla, which is probably why he doesn't eat much. So hopefully he will get a regular OT soon. Right now he only has speech and is doing great with that. We played wallyball last weekend with my family and that was fun! We are going on a date Friday! Woohoo! We are thinking about getting a puppy, but mostly we are just thinking. :) I have to teach this week, but I only have to teach once this month, since we have stake conference at the end of the month! Sad, what makes me happy. :)

the long anticipated birthday party :)

Kyla has been just a tad anxious for this special day. I think she was even disappointed yesterday when I told her it was her real birthday, she didn't care about that, she wanted it to be the party day. She, of course, had a How to Train your Dragon party. We played pin the fire in the dragon's mouth, catch the dragon, master your shields, pinata, dragon races, Viking, Viking, Dragon, Viking Says, had cake and icecream... she was lovin' it!!

cousin Kailin, cousin Anna, Maelie, Kyla, Rebekah and Chad from her primary class, cousin Ethan, and Matthew from last year's preschool who she says she is going to marry. =)

Happy Birthday Kyla!

Our little girl is 5 today! CRRRAAAZY! Time is flying way too fast I tell you! Kyla has been soo soo soo soo soo soo anxious for her birthday. Everyday she asks me how many days and what we can do today to get ready for her party. This girl is such a little individual. She is so worried that she will get girly toys for her birthday. She only wants boy toys and she really wants dragons. We are trying to give her a little variety and I have been coaching her on saying thank you no matter what she gets for her birthday. We love our Kyla Shaye!

100th day of school :)

doing better!

Yesterday after school we went to a park with friends to ride bikes and Maelie was doing really good but still a little scared. Last night I asked her if she wanted to show Dad and she did awesome! She even started once by herself, rode all the way to the end of the street and turned around! Yay Maelie!

letting go

We have been talking to the girls a lot about going without training wheels and they had no desire! On Monday out of the blue, Maelie said she was ready to try! So last night we took them out for their first try. We only had about 1/2 hour of light so we didn't spend that much time but it was a good start. Kyla still needs lots of practice and we never let go of her. Maelie went on her own a few times and just for a few seconds. She is still pretty scared but I am so happy that she is trying! And now that she did it I am hoping she will be able to take off on her own next time. I was really surprised how hard it was to let go of that seat. But when I realized she was pretty much riding on her own anyway, it was easier to take my hand off. I think she would get scared when she realized my hand wasn't there anymore so she would get distracted and put her foot down. She only fell once and got right back up!

life is good

All week I have been trying to completely forget about the fact that I have to teach my first Sunday School lesson on Sunday. It's JUST 14 YR OLDS!!! I have been pretty successful at forgetting about it... but it's still there in the back of my mind. Why can't I be one of those people who never worry about things like this? Are there people like that? Anyway, I was supposed to teach last Sunday, I was so nervous and so anxious to get that first lesson behind me, I get to church and I don't have to teach because it's combined for ward conference. UGH! Another week!!! Life goes on Mistie, it really does... and my life is good.

Grandma made the girls princess dresses and they are loving them. Kyla has been learning about community workers in preschool - speaking of preschool... Jaxon just today qualified for the same preschool Kyla has been in that has helped her so much! Kyla was "in for" a social/emotional and adaptive delay. Jaxon is "in for" communication as well as social/emotional and adaptive. He gets the bus! And I am crossing my fingers that he will go on the same bus as Kyla but go to the other teacher's classroom at the same time. I will find out pretty soon. He starts after he turns 3 in March. No potty training required! How weird would that be to have all 3 kids in school for a few hours 3 times a week? Time to have another kid???

Jaxon LOVES this "blank - a - lank" made by Grandma when he was a baby. Loves it so much that it split wide open and shredded. Well, Grandma fixed it today and it is good as new. :)

Maelie made this Valentine's card for Ty....
"To Ty, From Maelie, a love castle"
"Will you marry me?" notice the 2 kissing in the tower :)
