the long anticipated birthday party :)

Kyla has been just a tad anxious for this special day. I think she was even disappointed yesterday when I told her it was her real birthday, she didn't care about that, she wanted it to be the party day. She, of course, had a How to Train your Dragon party. We played pin the fire in the dragon's mouth, catch the dragon, master your shields, pinata, dragon races, Viking, Viking, Dragon, Viking Says, had cake and icecream... she was lovin' it!!

cousin Kailin, cousin Anna, Maelie, Kyla, Rebekah and Chad from her primary class, cousin Ethan, and Matthew from last year's preschool who she says she is going to marry. =)

Happy Birthday Kyla!

Our little girl is 5 today! CRRRAAAZY! Time is flying way too fast I tell you! Kyla has been soo soo soo soo soo soo anxious for her birthday. Everyday she asks me how many days and what we can do today to get ready for her party. This girl is such a little individual. She is so worried that she will get girly toys for her birthday. She only wants boy toys and she really wants dragons. We are trying to give her a little variety and I have been coaching her on saying thank you no matter what she gets for her birthday. We love our Kyla Shaye!

100th day of school :)

doing better!

Yesterday after school we went to a park with friends to ride bikes and Maelie was doing really good but still a little scared. Last night I asked her if she wanted to show Dad and she did awesome! She even started once by herself, rode all the way to the end of the street and turned around! Yay Maelie!

letting go

We have been talking to the girls a lot about going without training wheels and they had no desire! On Monday out of the blue, Maelie said she was ready to try! So last night we took them out for their first try. We only had about 1/2 hour of light so we didn't spend that much time but it was a good start. Kyla still needs lots of practice and we never let go of her. Maelie went on her own a few times and just for a few seconds. She is still pretty scared but I am so happy that she is trying! And now that she did it I am hoping she will be able to take off on her own next time. I was really surprised how hard it was to let go of that seat. But when I realized she was pretty much riding on her own anyway, it was easier to take my hand off. I think she would get scared when she realized my hand wasn't there anymore so she would get distracted and put her foot down. She only fell once and got right back up!

life is good

All week I have been trying to completely forget about the fact that I have to teach my first Sunday School lesson on Sunday. It's JUST 14 YR OLDS!!! I have been pretty successful at forgetting about it... but it's still there in the back of my mind. Why can't I be one of those people who never worry about things like this? Are there people like that? Anyway, I was supposed to teach last Sunday, I was so nervous and so anxious to get that first lesson behind me, I get to church and I don't have to teach because it's combined for ward conference. UGH! Another week!!! Life goes on Mistie, it really does... and my life is good.

Grandma made the girls princess dresses and they are loving them. Kyla has been learning about community workers in preschool - speaking of preschool... Jaxon just today qualified for the same preschool Kyla has been in that has helped her so much! Kyla was "in for" a social/emotional and adaptive delay. Jaxon is "in for" communication as well as social/emotional and adaptive. He gets the bus! And I am crossing my fingers that he will go on the same bus as Kyla but go to the other teacher's classroom at the same time. I will find out pretty soon. He starts after he turns 3 in March. No potty training required! How weird would that be to have all 3 kids in school for a few hours 3 times a week? Time to have another kid???

Jaxon LOVES this "blank - a - lank" made by Grandma when he was a baby. Loves it so much that it split wide open and shredded. Well, Grandma fixed it today and it is good as new. :)

Maelie made this Valentine's card for Ty....
"To Ty, From Maelie, a love castle"
"Will you marry me?" notice the 2 kissing in the tower :)

This morning Jonas asked Maelie if she wanted to go on a date with him and she said, "no." Well, ok, then he asked Kyla if she wanted to go on a date with him and she said "yes!" And then when they started talking about what they would do, Maelie went to her room crying. I think Maelie learned to always say yes when Daddy asks her on a date. He is out on a date with both girls. =)

My kids like the Scooby Doo movies on netflix and Kyla chose a scary one this morning. At one point both girls booked it to their bedroom and I heard Maelie say, "hurry, say blah blah blah really loud so we can't hear the scary part." So they were in their room yelling "BLAH BLAH BLAH..." And I said, "hey girls if it's too scary, why don't we pick a different movie." And of course, "no we like this movie."

what I do while Jonas is reading my kindle :)

I love looking at older pic folders... and I find it interesting that these are all pix that I didn't post on my blog because I thought I looked chubby at the time and now I would LOVE to be at that weight. Funny how life is like that. These are pix from back in spring 2007. I think the girls look so sweet and innocent. haha, they still are pretty sweet. I love my family, so thankful for cameras and digital so we can preserve all our memories.

Happy New Year!!!

a couple of random pix off my Mom's camera.... Maelie backstage at her dance show and Maelie playing with her bow and arrow from Trevon
On New Year's Day when we were driving home from IKEA we saw lots of hot air balloons and what do ya know, about 6 of them were flying right by our house. The kids were lovin' it! Oh, and I chopped Kyla's hair off on Saturday when I so wasn't in the mood for her whining when I was doing her hair. Thankfully, she looks adorable. :)

New Year's eve at Grandma and Grandpa's house... the kids had fun with the fireworks and sparklers!

Jaxon (and the girls) lovin' the new train table we got off craigslist! We have kept Jaxon in a crib all this time and the other night we put the guard rail on to turn it into a toddler bed. I don't know why we were so worried! He did awesome! Altho, instead of getting out of bed and playing in the morning, he yells until we come in and give him permission. :)
We so enjoyed the week with Jonas off from work and the kids out of school. We went to the temple, to Bounce Jungle, to Sub Zero (where Trevon works), to the dollar store, to IKEA, and just had fun hanging out. And today it's back to reality. Well, Jonas is back to work and the kids are back to school tomorrow! Happy New Year!
